Trinity Teens Senior Service Project: Sunday, Feb. 9th

Hi Trinity Teens and Parents!

We wanted to talk to you about the upcoming event this Sunday (9th).  Most of our activities center around fun, fellowship, and our relationship with God.  Another important part of our teens' Christian lives involves nurturing their awareness of service opportunities at church and in the community.  Last Fall we met at a Trinity member's house to spend an afternoon raking and trimming as well as all-around yard clean-up.  The teens talked with the home owner and were able to see her appreciation for the truly HUGE difference in her yard.

This Sunday, we will have our second service project at Riverside Place, 400 E. Main Street in downtown Midland.  Riverside is a senior independent living facility.  Our service will be two-fold:  6 boys are needed to work with maintenance staff and at least one Trinity adult volunteer to flip residents' mattresses, and all other teens (boys and girls) will socialize with the residents while making a Valentine's craft together.  Board/card games will also be available for the un-crafty!  Riverside is not a nursing home - the residents are simply living in an apartment building comprised of a senior population.  They are active and independent and would love the opportunity to hang out and talk with the younger generation!!

Punctuality is important. We plan to be at Riverside from 3-5.  You have the choice of dropping your teen at the main entrance of 400 E. Main Street (Trinity volunteer will be there to greet) or at the Youth Center by 2:40.  We will leave at 2:45!

Our goal is for the teens to experience service as a benefit to themselves as well as those they serve.  God's service is also FUN and an important part of Christian maturity.  Please encourage your teen to come, and we encourage you to serve as well.  We would appreciate extra adult volunteers for this project.

P.S. Remember that the Spring Hill informational meeting is directly following this event!

Senior LYO Winter Activity Night: Sunday, Feb, 9

Time to enjoy the winter wonderland that is Midland. We are meeting at the Youth Center at 6:30 for a fun night of winter activities.

Don't worry, we won't be going outside (much). We are heading back to the youth center, enjoying some hot cocoa, and talking about one of the topics that was brought up at the beginning of the year. Make sure to bring warm clothes. Feel free to bring a friend as well!

Remember, the Genesis meeting is right afterward at 8:30.

February Youth Schedule

Senior LYO Small groups meet: Week of February 2 and 23
Small groups are in full swing! These are great ways to connect with some awesome small group leaders and some of your friends. It is just a casual time to hang out and talk about some relevant issues. They meet at many different times throughout the week, so we can find something that works for you. Not in a small group, call/text Jordan at (989)600-9801 or email me at trinitymidlandyouth@gmail.com and we can get you connected!

Confirmation Hang Time: Thursday Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27
Trinity Teens (middle school kids) come over to the Youth Center and hang out and play games for an hour before confirmation. It is a ton of fun and a great way to meet up with some of your Trinity friends. It will be every Thursday right after school at the Trinity Youth Center from 3-4. Parents, please let me know if you would like to volunteer and bring snacks. I need some help. Also, there is a ride provided to the youth center from both middle schools for all kids who are interested. Contact Jordan Palladino if interested.

High School Sunday Morning Gathering: Sunday Mornings, 10 am
Hey high school students. Not sure what to do on Sunday mornings. Come over to the youth center for a Sunday morning gathering. We will have a little breakfast, talk about life and have a short bible study. See you there!

Senior LYO Winter Activity Night: Sunday, Feb, 9

Trinity Teens Senior Living Service Project: Sunday, Feb. 9th
The middle schoolers are heading out to have a great day of service in the community. We are heading to a senior living center and spending time with some of the residents. These are people who are fully capable of living on their own, they just need a little help. So, we are going to head over there and spend some time with some awesome people who don’t get to spend a lot of time with the younger kids. We will do some crafts, play some games, and even do some basic house work (optional) for those who are interested. It will be a great time and they will really appreciate it. Punctuality is important. We plan to be at Riverside from 3-5.  You have the choice of dropping your teen at the main entrance of 400 E. Main Street (Trinity volunteer will be there to greet) or at the Youth Center by 2:40.  We will leave at 2:45!

High School Ski Trip!: Feb. 15-16
We are planning on having a high school ski trip with Young Life and all Trinity High School students are welcome! We are heading out on Feb. 15 in the afternoon to head up to Houghton Lake. There we will do some fun activities, eat dinner and hang out for the night. Then, on the 16th, we are getting up early and heading to the peaks at Caberfea for a great day of skiing. We will stay there for most of the day and then head back toward Midland on Sunday night (there is no school on Monday, so you don't have to worry about that). Want to join? Give Jordan a $10 down payment to hold you spot. That will help cover transportation, food and lodging. Does not cover lift ticket, ski rental or food at the peaks.

Cool Kids Game Day: Sunday, Feb. 23rd
Game time! Who wants to play some fun games! The cool kids are meeting from 3:00-5:00 at the youth center and busting out some fun games. There will be all sorts of great activities. We will be hanging out for a few hours and having a short talk by one of our leaders and eating some snacks. Bring a friend and let’s have some fun!

Middle School Spring Hill Weekend! Feb. 21-23
I am really excited for all of the interest with our 2014 Middle School Winter Retreat. Please pray for our 30 Middle School students heading out to Spring Hill for a great weekend. Our students will experience God in many different ways, talk and worship together, and have a ton of fun. It will be an amazing experience and a ton of fun for all who are going! I could also use help driving kids there and back. Please contact me if you are willing to help.

High School Genesis Retreat! Feb. 28- Mar. 2
In addition to the middle school retreat, there is also a great high school winter retreat that is happening. We are sending 8 high school students 2 college age leaders and 2 other leaders to the Genesis retreat in Traverse city. Genesis is an event for Sr. High students, where leaders and students can worship honestly and grow spiritually. Students will be given an opportunity to lead and serve in various ways, grow together as a group, and connect with the other youth that have all converged on The Grand Traverse Resort from around the Great Lakes Region. It will be an amazing experience for our Trinity students and leaders. Please pray for safe travels and that God may work in our lives.

Mission Trip Signups are Underway!

8th-12th graders should sign up for the 2014 mission trip to Waterloo, IA! A down payment of $50 holds your spot. Contact Jordan for more info. Please sign up soon if you are planning to go so we can plan for the appropriate numbers.
