Confirmation and Elementary Camp Sign ups and info

Dear Confirmation and Elementary Students and Parents,

Our week of Confirmation Camp and Elementary Camp (June 22nd – June 27th) is fast approaching.  It won’t be long before we head out to Camp Living Waters in Luther, MI for the second year in a row.  I am really excited about camp this year and I hope that you and your child are too! If you are interested in a great week at camp, please see the information below.

This note is preceding a letter that is being sent to all parents of 3rd-8th grade students.  In the letter is a registration form. Please fill out the top part of the Registration Form as well as the middle grey box entitled “Middle School Camp” or “Junior Camp” with respect to your student’s grade (as of Fall 2014). Please make sure to pick the week of June 22-27. While filling out the top part of the Registration Form, please include the name Jordan Palladino in the section with the header “Please supply name(s) of other(s) authorized to pick up your camper”.  Concerning the grey box on the form, you will find a list of activities on the informational sheet; the chosen activity will be the main set of activities your camper will partake in during the week.  Please leave the bottom (under “Payment Information”) blank.

Since this is our second year at Camp Living Waters, we applied for an early registration discount. This means that camp will cost the same amount this year as it did last year! With Trinity contributing a $100 discount, the cost for camp is $165 for Junior Camp and $175 for Middle School Camp. All students that will be entering 4th or 5th grade in the fall are welcome to attend Junior camp and students entering 6th-9th grade are welcome to attend the Middle School Camp (Camp Living Waters allows our current 8th graders to attend camp as well, despite what the signup suggests)

Please turn in this form with payment to the church office by Sunday, April 27th to register.
Do not mail it to the camp!

Once we have all of the Registration Forms, Camp Living Waters will make available to us their Medical Form along with a packing list, which will be sent to you along with the Trinity Health Form (if not already on file). If you are going to do any activity that costs extra (paintball, horse rising, ect.) please include that in the total cost paid. Checks can be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church, or you may use the giving kiosk in the church lobby (arrangements can be made if cost is an issue).

If you do not receive a letter in the mail, or if you want more information for a friend, additional sign up forms will be on the youth board in the lobby and there will be Camp Living Waters informational brochures at the welcome center.

We will meet in the church parking lot at 12:30 on Sunday, June 22nd.  Please eat lunch before arriving, as we will not be stopping for a meal on the way there.  Parents, plan to stay with us for a brief send-off before we make our drive off to camp.  Students will be returning on Friday, June 27th, around 8:30pm.  We will be stopping for dinner on our way back to Midland. We will need a few parents to help us drive the campers to and from camp.  Please let me know if you would like to assist.

I am sorry that this information is falling so close to Spring Break. Please forgive me for any inconvenience.

Please contact me with any concerns or questions.

In Him,

Jordan Palladino

Senior LYO Movie Night: Sunday March 23

This Sunday, Senior LYO is heading to the movie theater to see the premiere of "God's Not Dead"

It should be an interesting movie about living as a Christian in today's skeptical culture. Check out the trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMjo5f9eiX8

All high school students are welcome to come. Please let me know ASAP if you are coming and who is coming with you (you can bring a friend) so I can get tickets. We are meeting at the Midland theater at 4:10 to see the movie. It should run until 6:20 or so and then we will head back to the Youth Center for a quick discussion and pizza. We will be done by 7:00. Please plan to have a ride to the theater and the Youth Center after, or I will reserve the church van and leave from the Trinity Youth Center at 4:00 if anyone needs a ride. Please bring $5 to help cover costs.
Hope to see you there!

High School Genesis Winter Retreat in Pictures

So, last month we had an amazing retreat to Genesis in Traverse City.
Here are some pictures from our trip!

It was amazing to see over 1500 high school students ready to praise God

We had several main sessions in which we heard a great worship band called Rush of Fools

Even got to meet the band

Shane Claiborne was the speaker for the weekend. He gave very powerful talks about how to be a Christian in the modern world and what it means to actually follow Jesus and to take his teachings seriously.

When we weren't in sessions, we did some fun things.
Like play archery tag...

This is basically dodge ball with bows and arrows.

The girls even busted out matching headbands

and the guys...

Of course, there was an actual dodge ball tournament as well

We also attended some seminars. Like the one that Shane Claiborne held.

We even got to meet him and get a few of his books signed.

another main session

And we went to a rap concert by Heath McNease and company.

It was a very powerful weekend for everyone, and I am so excited to head back in 2016.
If you want to know more, ask any of the high schoolers who attended. They will be happy to tell you all about it!

Middle School Spring Hill Winter Retreat Recap in Pictures

Hey everyone!
We had a great time at our winter weekend to Spring Hill! I am sure that everyone has already told you about it, and if you want to hear about the trip ask any one of the 29 Middle Schoolers that came with us. I am sure they would be happy to give you the details. Here is a look at the weekend in some pictures.

(Here is the main session with over 1000 people!)

a little free time on our first night

On our first morning, the first thing we did was play some broom ball

(this is a game played like hockey, but with a big ball and some broom sticks and no skates)

we had a pretty solid supporting cast as well

Here is our overtime shootout..

To answer your next question, I lost in a game of rock paper scissors, so we lost the game :(

After we regained feeling in our fingers, we attended a game show!

We also played a large group game. It was a variation of rock paper scissors.

(some of us even got interviewed)

After the first game, they asked for some leaders to come to the stage to test if some eggs were hard boiled or not by smashing them on their forehead. Guess whose group forced their leader to get on stage...

even had time to take a selfie

After the games finished, we busted out another large session and worship.

In the afternoon, we had a little free time. Some students took the time to tube and snowboard

Some even got to zip line

battle formation

A few people tackled the high rope course

There was some horseback riding to be had as well

We came back later that night for another large group session

After session was a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Here are some shots of our teams

and some of us found other things to do during the tournament..

Here is a little tour of the camp.

And meal time!

Another large group session!

And our awesome group from Trinity!

So, here are our Spring Hill ladies.

how did that guy get in the pictures...

(and their cabin)

and the Spring Hill fellas

(little harder to get them to pose)

Thanks everyone for a great weekend! I hope that it was a ton of fun for everyone involved and I can't wait to see you all at the next event!
