2016 Youth Mission Trip Location Details!

Hello everyone!
I have some exciting new developments about the 2016 youth Mission Trip! After moving some dates and numbers, taking a vote and working out logistics, I am pleased to announce the final decision for the 2016 Youth Mission Trip. The 2016 mission trip will be going to
Canonsburg, Pennsylvania!

It is going to be an amazing trip and a ton of fun! I am really excited about it and I hope that you are too! Thank you all for bearing with me as we got this nailed down.

Last year we had 37 students and 9 leaders go on an amazing trip to Charlotte, NY. We had a blast as a group, worshiped in large group sessions, did some meaningful service projects and made some friends that will last a life time. Mission trips are a great time to build community with other people your age, strengthen your relationship with Jesus, do some great work in the community, and, of course, have a great time! If you want to hear more about the trip, just ask any of the 37 students who went last year! I would love for you to have this experience next year on our 2016 trip.

The Mission Trip will be
July 9-16, 2016.
Plan on those dates and put them in your calendar!

Right now, we have 36 spots reserved for Trinity students and another 9 for leaders. As soon as I have 36 sign ups, I will start a wait list and will try to get more spots for each additional person. The Mission Trip is open to any high school student who wants to go. The signups will be on a first come first serve basis so you should sign up soon! There are currently 12 students signed up, so there are only 24 spots left! If you want to lock down your spot, please send in a deposit of at least $50 to hold your spot. All checks should be made payable to Trinity Lutheran Church and please send your forms to the attention of Jordan Palladino, or put them in my box in the church office.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions about the 2016 Mission Trip. I hope to see you there! For the rest of the Mission Trip team,

It is filled with amazing music, great speakers, awesome games, powerful testimonies, great service projects and just plain fun! I really hope that all high school students consider going to this event!

Genesis normally costs $179. However, I think that this is a very important weekend and has the chance to be very powerful and transformation so I am offering it to Trinity members for $119. This includes all meals (minus trips there and back), transportation, room in the hotel, a t-shirt and an amazing experience. I think that this trip is totally worth it.
Please let me know if cost will be an issue and we can work something out! I refuse to let cost be a reason that someone doesn't go.

If you would like to sign up for Genesis, sign up at this link online!
-Please click the individual registration and not the group one.
- Make sure to select Trinity Lutheran Church from the drop down menu (we are the only Trinity Lutheran)
-When you are registering, please select one T-shirt and size. This is included with the sign up fee for Trinity members. If you would like an additional t-shirt or a sweatshirt, please add the cost onto your total.
- Please do not send any money to Genesis! Bring cash or checks into the church office and I will send in a check for the whole group!

 After you've completed the form:
  • You need to save your registration by clicking the submit button.
  • If you have missed any necessary information, it will appear at the top of the page.
  • Once you have successfully registered, you will be sent to a confirmation page.
  • The confirmation page offers you the opportunity to contribute toward our mission project at the Feed My Starving Children site.  Please consider how you can help us reach our goal of providing over 100,000 meals to children in need!
This will be an amazing weekend and I really hope that I see you there! Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

The church van will be picking up any kid who wants a ride from Jefferson right after school. The van will be in the parent pickup line until 2:50. Please make sure your students are looking for the bus if they are going to get a ride and please send them with a signed parent permission form found here
http://www.tlcmidland.org/index.php/ministry/youth-ministry/important-formsThe bus drops off all the kids at Hang Time at the youth center. They stay there until 4:00, when I walk them across the street to class.

Important Hang Time, Confirmation and Trinity Teen Details

Hello!

The school year is starting back up, so it is time to hang out for Trinity Teens!
(Also, starting confirmation class and Hang Time...I will get to those in a minute)

For those of you who aren't aware, Trinity Teens is the youth group that we run for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. We do all sorts of fun activities and games. I will send out details about each event as they come closer. This year, we will be having Trinity Teens on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 5:30-7:00 (directly after confirmation). I think this should make logistics a little easier for everyone, because students can just attend straight from class and parents don't need to make an extra trip to church. I will make sure to provide dinner and snacks every time we have Trinity Teens as well. If they are busy or have too much homework, feel free to just pick up your child after confirmation at 5:15.

This Thursday, September 17th, we are having the Trinity Teens kickoff! I will have games, prizes, there will be a gaga tournament and maybe one or two water balloons (so you may want to bring some clothes that can get wet...) All 6th, 7th and 8th graders are welcome to attend our kickoff party! The party will be right after confirmation class ends.
REMINDER: Only 7th and 8th graders have Thursday confirmation class in September. All 6th graders can attend the party, but come to the church at 5:30

In addition to Trinity Teens starting back up, we are going to hanging out for hang time on Thursdays too! Hang time is when all the confirmation students gather at the youth center to hang out for the hour after school and before confirmation class. I provide drinks and snacks. There is also a ride provided from Northeast and Jefferson Middle Schools to the youth center. The Trinity Church van (white, 15 passenger, says "Trinity Lutheran" on the side) will pick up kids at Jefferson, right after school in the parent pick up lot, and at Northeast in the bus lane after all the buses have left. If you child would like to get a ride, I need a parent permission form filled out. They are at this link
Please send one with your child on Thursday
(just 7th and 8th graders this time).

Also, I am looking for parents to help me out with hang time. All you would have to do is agree to be at the youth center from 3-4 to keep an eye on the kids. I am all set this Thursday, but need help the rest of the semester. If everyone who reads this email helps once, we would have enough helpers for the whole year. Let me know if you have a date in mind that you can help me out. I can't put on youth activities without your help :)

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks everyone!

Senior Graduation Lunch and Community Baccalaureate

Hello High School Seniors and Parents

Graduation is almost upon us! I realize that this is a crazy and hectic time of life, but I would like to invite you all to a few events that are being put on in your honor. Please take a few seconds and read about the events coming up.

The first event is our annual Trinity graduation lunch. You all should have received an invite in the mail. If not, consider this your invite :)

(Pleas RSVP to the church office)

The second event is a
Community Baccalaureate Service:

Purpose/Goal:  to offer a ceremony for 2015 Graduates and their families where God is recognized, worshiped and honored in the overall experience of graduation.

I love how Isaiah 26:12 (Lord, you establish peace for us;
all that we have accomplished you have done for us.) and Jesus' statement in John 3:21 (But those who live by the truth come into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.) give a foundation for Baccalaureate!
The accomplishment of graduation is something God has done!

The Community Baccalaureate service is another venture where we can come together to honor God and his work! Several youth groups and churches are working together to put on this event!

Community Baccalaureate Service Date:
TUESDAY, May 26, 2015 @ 7 PM

Location: Grace A. Dow Library Auditorium

Program will include special music, speakers, prayer, (and a light refreshment)

Please let me know if you are planning to attend either of these events or have any questions. Thanks for your time!
