Trinity Mission Trip/ELCA Gathering Info Meeting

Hey Everyone!

This is a Reminder about the ELCA Gathering and Mission Trip Meeting on Sunday, January 25th at 8:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church. 

 

With everyone's calendars filling up, this is a good time to have another informational meeting about the youth Mission Trip and the ELCA National Youth Gathering. If you missed the first meeting or if you have any questions about either of these summer trips, please come to this informational meeting. 

 

Group Workcamps are week-long Christian mission camps where our group will serve people in need through challenging home repair projects.  For six days, we will join other youth groups to repair sagging porches, rebuild unsafe steps and wheelchair ramps, and paint homes in and around Charlotte, NY from July 25-August 1. Right now we have reserved spots for 32 students and 8 adult leaders. As of right now, the 32 slots for students are full. However, we will try to get additional spots and leaders so that more students can go. We will form a waiting list for the spots, so feel free to come to the meeting to learn more information. Even though we have filled our current roster, we are managing a wait list and we do have a limited ability to add more spots. So, it is not too late to sign up and join the 40 people already planning to attend!

The Gathering is a five-day event that begins on a Wednesday evening and ends with a service of communion the following Sunday morning. The opening night sets the stage for the days ahead in which young people may have an encounter with Jesus that energizes their faith and helps them discover their call to serve in the world - locally and globally. The Gathering will be held July 15-19, 2015, in Detroit, Mich. Currently, we have 9 students signed up and we have room for more.

High School Exam Cram Sunday Jan 18th 6:30-8:30

Hey High Schoolers

Exams and tests are no fun. Does studying make you look like this?

 

And then this happens...

 

If this is you, take a break from studying and come to the youth center this 

Sunday the 18th from 6:30-8:30 pm. 

We will have an exam cram survival packet for you and some much needed fun and activities. Or you may come and study, just in a different location to have a change of pace. Whatever works for you. We are here to help. People will be there to help you study as well. We will provide pizza and snacks to keep you going. Come on out for a nice break from the madness of exams. Bring whatever comfy clothes you would like and good luck on those finals!

Confirmation Class and Hang Time this Thursday

Hey Everyone!!!  This is just a friendly reminder that confirmation class is starting back up this Thursday the 8th for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders! Class will resume at its normal time of 4:00-5:15.    With class continuing, Hang Time will also start back up this Thursday from 3:00-4:00!    For those of you who don't know, Hang Time is an after school program where all the confirmation students can come to the youth center and hang out and eat snacks and possibly do homework after school until confirmation starts. Everyone is more than welcome to come and hang out at hang time!    We provide a ride from the school to the youth center as well. All students are welcome to get a ride after school. The church van makes a trip and picks up kids from both middle schools. The van is at Jefferson in the side (south) parking lot and then it goes to North East and picks up the kids where the buses come out (kids, make sure not to cross the street, the van will come to you). Our van is the big white one that has "Trinity Lutheran Church" on the side :) The ride is optional but we are happy to take the kids to Hang Time! I realize that this is a very busy time for everyone, but I have a few important reminders about the Middle School Winter Weekend. If you could spend a few minutes and please read these details, that would be really helpful. Thanks!

The Winter weekend to Spring Hill is quickly approaching! I have currently reserved spots for 26 students and 4 adult leaders. Right now I have 16 kids signed up, and they are:

If your child is not on this list, I do not have them signed up. Please let me know ASAP if your child wants to go, or if I missed them on this list. We are past the initial sign up date of December 15th, so any Middle Schooler can sign up even if they aren't a Trinity member. So, your child may bring some friends until the total spots are filled up. 

If you have any questions about the trip or sign ups, I am going to hold a Spring Hill informational meeting on January 7th at 8:00 pm at the Trinity Youth Center.  You may bring any or all sign up material to the meeting or turn it in at any time before the 7th.
