Hey Everyone!
This is a Reminder about the ELCA Gathering and Mission Trip Meeting on Sunday, January 25th at 8:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church.
With everyone's calendars filling up, this is a good time to have another informational meeting about the youth Mission Trip and the ELCA National Youth Gathering. If you missed the first meeting or if you have any questions about either of these summer trips, please come to this informational meeting.
Group Workcamps are week-long Christian mission camps where our group will serve people in need through challenging home repair projects. For six days, we will join other youth groups to repair sagging porches, rebuild unsafe steps and wheelchair ramps, and paint homes in and around Charlotte, NY from July 25-August 1. Right now we have reserved spots for 32 students and 8 adult leaders. As of right now, the 32 slots for students are full. However, we will try to get additional spots and leaders so that more students can go. We will form a waiting list for the spots, so feel free to come to the meeting to learn more information. Even though we have filled our current roster, we are managing a wait list and we do have a limited ability to add more spots. So, it is not too late to sign up and join the 40 people already planning to attend!
The Gathering is a five-day event that begins on a Wednesday evening and ends with a service of communion the following Sunday morning. The opening night sets the stage for the days ahead in which young people may have an encounter with Jesus that energizes their faith and helps them discover their call to serve in the world - locally and globally. The Gathering will be held July 15-19, 2015, in Detroit, Mich. Currently, we have 9 students signed up and we have room for more.
